Benedict Wong's She-Hulk performance has further increased his reputation among fans, and the actor has expressed interest in a standalone Marvel Cinematic Universe series. The actor's portrayal of the devoted Sorcerer Supreme, referred to simply as Wong, has turned into a unifying theme across Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, most recently appearing in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law.
Since his MCU debut in the first Doctor Strange in 2016, when he played a Kamar-Taj teacher who assisted Benedict Cumberbatch's titular character on his path to becoming a supernatural hero, Benedict Wong has established himself as a cherished supporting actor. Along with Shang-Chi and the Legend Of The Ten Rings, Spider-Man: No Way Home, and most recently, Doctor Strange In the Multiverse of Madness, he also made appearances in Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, in addition to his She-Hulk appearance.
The actor discussed his recent cameos in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and how well fans have received them in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter. Benedict Wong disclosed to The Hollywood Reporter that Kevin Feige, the head of Marvel Studios, had emailed him saying that the franchise was "fast becoming the WCU," or the Wong Cinematic Universe. "I've got the email, I'm seriously considering getting it as wallpaper. I'm just enjoying playing this role and where it takes me. In every single kind of project that they invite me to be involved in, it just pulls away another layer of the onion, you know? You get to find a bit more about the eccentricities of the Sorcerer Supreme."
His appearance in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law's Episode 4, where he is connected to both Abomination and the MCU's newest sensation Madisynn, has a lot of fans wondering if the Sorcerer Supreme may be in the lead-up to his own Marvel Studios series. Benedict Wong expressed his gratitude for the reception the new Sorcerer Supreme has received from Marvel fans on social media over the past year, though he did not detail his expectations for a standalone series starring his character. In She-Hulk: Attorney at Law episode 4, Jennifer Walters breaks the fourth wall to acknowledge the support shown on social media by telling the camera, "God, everybody loves Wong." The episode also afforded viewers a look into the Sorcerer's daily life, and the fans are all for it.
While it is certain that Benedict Wong will return to the MCU in the future, it is currently unknown at this time if he will get his own series or solo film, similar to his Doctor Strange co-star Cumberbatch. Nevertheless, it wouldn't be shocking if a Wong solo series is currently in the works at Marvel Studios, given that he is one of the most well-liked characters in the cinematic universe.
