Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness continues Marvel Studios' success with another thrilling entry and mind-bending entry in the MCU. While it remains unclear as to how the phase four projects will culminate, one thing is for sure, and that is Benedict Cumberbatch wants to continue playing Doctor Strange.

Making his MCU debut in 2016's Doctor Strange, Cumberbatch has now cemented himself as one of the MCU's most intriguing and leading heroes, as the fan-favorite character is now also playing a pivotal role in the expansion and exploration of the multiverse. Coming off of his appearance in some of the MCU's most successful projects with Spider-Man: No Way Home and now the Doctor Strange sequel, it appears that Cumberbatch wants to continue his recent success.

In a recent interview with The National Post, Cumberbatch was asked if he would keep playing the role of Doctor strange for many more years. "Yeah! Absolutely. Absolutely. If they keep me, and it’s interesting, and keep him evolving and try to exercise his full potential as a character," Cumberbatch said in response. "I think there’s a lot of places for him to explore. So yeah, bring it on."

While Cumberbatch recently shared that he will be taking a break from acting, Doctor Strange 2's box office and critical success, as well as how the MCU's introduction of the multiverse creates endless story possibilities, means it would certainly be difficult for Cumberbatch not to return. But with the focus shifting to upcoming projects like Thor: Love and Thunder and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, it will be interesting to see how and when Doctor Strange crosses paths once again with other fan-favorite characters.

Until he returns to the big (or small) screen, fans will have to catch Cumberbatch as the iconic sorcerer in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. The sequel, which this time has been directed by Spider-Man and Evil Dead filmmaker Sam Raimi (who replaced Scott Derrickson), follows Benedict Cumberbatch's sorcerer hero through the alternate realities of the multiverse as he tries to protect teenager America Chavez (Xochitl Gomez) from those looking to steal her dimension-hopping powers.

The sequel has already been met with rave reviews, as many critics and fans have praised Raimi's unique vision and injection of horror elements as well as the performances, particularly Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch. The film also sees the return of Chiwetel Ejiofor as Baron Mordo, Benedict Wong as Wong, and Rachel McAdams as Christine Palmer.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is now playing in theatres.
