If Zack Snyder's Justice League taught us anything, it's that fans have the power to affect meaningful change, so long as there is enough of them willing to push for it. After their relentless campaign to have Warner Bros. release the Snyder Cut proved to be successful, DC fans are now back at it again with another movement that hopes to bring Ben Affleck back into the DC Extended Universe via his own Batman solo film.
While there's no guarantee that the studio will give in to their peer pressure this time around, wishful thinkers can at least revel in the slew of fan-made art that has been released online amid the growing campaign for Affleck's canceled Batman film. One digital artist named Bryan Zap, in particular, created a set of realistic Batman movie posters that bring the Batfleck fantasy to life in a simple yet effective way.
The movie posters are minimalistic in design, but they feature everything that fans would hope to see in a Batfleck film. Zap's most interesting and thought-provoking movie poster depicts Deathstroke's scratched helmet with a Batarang sticking out of it. The words "HA HA HA" are also scribbled across the metal hardware, which could allude to the Joker. Given those details, it's likely that Zap took inspiration from the Snyder Cut since his movie poster imagines a plotline that would continue the story arcs introduced in Zack Snyder's Justice League.
The "HA HA HA" was first shown in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, where it was written across a ripped up Robin suit that was left in the Batcave. Such a scene was a reference to a Batman story arc from the comic books called "A Death in the Family," which was also teased in the epilogue of the Snyder Cut. Should Warner Bros. decide to revive plans for a Batfleck film, their writers could explore such events and throw Deathstroke into the mix.
After the recent merger between Warner Bros. and Discovery Inc., the #MakeTheBatfleckMovie campaign has become stronger than ever. Affleck left his role as the Dark Knight back in 2019, dissolving any chance of him appearing in his own standalone feature.
However, should the fan-driven campaign manage to sway the studio to reconsider, there would be many opportunities to expand the Batman Universe with solo films and spin-offs. For now, fans will just have to wait and see if their attempts will work for a second time.
The Batman is scheduled to be released in theaters on March 4, 2022.
