The highly anticipated Flash movie has been filming in New York City as of late which makes the set all the more open for fans to sneak a glance or quick photo in. A set video was leaked the previous day, and now photos of The Flash’s Supergirl have been shared as well. Actress Sasha Calle has been cast as the role of Supergirl, making The Flash her feature film debut. Calle will be the first Latina actress to have ever been cast as Supergirl, bringing a much-needed form of representation to the DC world.

Since Calle is more of a newer face to fans, there was an even more desire to see her on set, let alone in full costume. That didn’t mean there weren’t massive celebrities standing alongside her that also got caught by the lens on set. Co-stars Kiersey Clemons and Ezra Miller were spotted while shooting on the same day. With household names such as Ben Affleck and Michael Keaton on board, Calle has some big shoes to fill. However, with the determination and strength she embodies in this first photo offers a sense of reassurance and excitement for fans.

Although a number of the photos were taken from the back, the costume makes up for the lack of a clear view. The classic royal blue and patriotic red were, of course, the key components to the suit. The suit itself looks as if it was made out of rubber or even glued onto her body. The entire fabric resembles a diving suit, with its miniscule ridges and lines on her arms that resemble fish scales.

Since Calle is in full stunt mode in this photo, the pose she takes mimics that of a high jump at a pool. Her arms are flailing out to the side as her waist is suspended in the air by cords. Her short hair seems to be the only thing that fans already knew about Supergirl. The actress had taken to Instagram to share a mirror picture of her pixie cut.

This first glimpse of The Flash’s Supergirl is a relief to see, considering how many obstacles were thrown in the way of the film being made. The Flash has gone through a total of four directors previously. Although it’s possible that the fourth time will be the charm with Andy Muschietti taking the lead. With the loss of various producers, screenwriters, and directors, many fans might have thought that the film was never going to be actually made.

The Flash will be released on November 4, 2020.
