Indie developer The Behemoth have revealed that their highly-anticipated Xbox Live Arcade game now has an official title - BattleBlock Theater. Previously, we've only heard it being referred to as the oh-so-vague working title - Game 3.

Speaking on their official blog the team spilled the beans on some of the game's plot:

"Having shipwrecked on a mysterious island you find yourself both betrayed by your best friend Hatty and captured by the locals. All of this is happening while being forced into deadly performances. This however, is just the start of your problems."

The team has also treated us to a fantastic looking new trailer, which you can watch after the jump:

The Behemoth added that we can expect more details (such as release date) to emerge over the coming months, so keep your eyes peeled to the site for the latest updates. There is as of yet no word whether or not BattleBlock Theater will be released on the PS3, but seeing as their previous release, the fantastic Castle Crashers is still expected to be cross platform we can assume that it will be arrive on PSN sometime after the Xbox 360 release.

I, for one, will definitely be downloading this when it's released, BattleBlock Theater looks to have that same fantastic artwork, charm and humour that I loved in Castle Crashers.

Though, I doubt we'll be getting our hands on it for a few months yet - I have a sneaking suspicion that Microsoft will will want to hold onto this one for this year's Summer of Arcade.

What do you think of the new title and trailer?
