Bayonetta 3, one of the biggest exclusives on the Nintendo Switch, has finally received a gameplay trailer. Today's Nintendo Direct was filled with plenty of reveals, updates, and more--including a tease for the next and final Super Smash Bros. Ultimate fighter--but the show ended with PlatinumGames' stylistic action game. That came by way of a gameplay trailer that should curb the appetite of fans who have been starving for new details on the game for quite some time.

Nintendo has given small updates on Bayonetta 3 over time, but since the announcement of the game back in 2017, things have been quite quiet. Thankfully, Nintendo Direct is the hero of the day and the conduit to new information for the beloved action title. Now, it is confirmed that Bayonetta 3 will launch in 2022, and a new gameplay trailer reveals plenty of exciting aspects about the game.

The video starts off showcasing non-gameplay footage of a city that looks to be in trouble. There are military men who are struggling to take down a massive monster, and things seem hopeless. However, Bayonetta swoops in to save the day. Fans will quickly notice that Bayonetta is donning a new outfit and hairstyle for Bayonetta 3, as her look seems to now change slightly with each game.

The gameplay shows off combos, Witch Time, new abilities, and more. Bayonetta fights off small enemies in close-quarters areas like trains and massive monsters. Bayonetta also uses a summon to assist in battle, and all of this looks quite splendid with the new gameplay. Fans of the series are likely excited to see the impressive showing, especially because not many expected to see Bayonetta 3 at the Nintendo Direct.

One interesting thing to note is that Nintendo chose to save its "one more thing" trailer for Bayonetta 3. In previous years, this may be where Nintendo shows off a game like the sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. But even if this Nintendo Direct had a brand new Kirby game, a big Splatoon 3 blow-out, and more; Nintendo chose to end the showcase with Bayonetta 3. If nothing else, it proves that Nintendo has faith in the game and is hoping to build up excitement leading up to its launch next year.

Bayonetta 3 will launch exclusively for the Nintendo Switch in 2022.
