Batwoman is currently in the midst of its third season, which continues the story of the titular heroine in The CW's Arrowverse. Recently, the series dropped the first official photos of one of the new foes making their debut on the show, Batman villain Killer Croc.

Batwoman previously released a season 3 trailer in which Killer Croc was revealed to be one of the villains who will be featured on the show. The series will display many new foes who are often underutilized in Batman storylines, while also delving into the more widely known heroes. This show is looking to make the caped vigilante stand out from under Batman's shadow by giving her a story of her own.

Killer Croc and Batwoman will be meeting face to face in an upcoming episode. Fans got their first look at Killer Croc in photos from Entertainment Weekly that show the villain in full costume during what appears to be a fight scene. It also looks like they went with a more humanoid version of the character instead of the giant monstrosity from the cartoons, comics, and games. This can be for a number of reasons, including budget or even the lack of a VFX-friendly set.

The pictures look to be taken in what appears to be Killer Croc's lair, which in the canon is usually underground in the sewer tunnels. The costume has a nice shade of green and the character also sports the wide grin of teeth that's very on-brand for Killer Croc. While speaking with EW, showrunner Caroline Dries said she was hesitant about including Killer Croc because of how out-there the concept of the character is. However, she warmed to the idea after grounding the character in some level of reality and finding a way to connect his story to the journey of the main characters in Batwoman.

Killer Croc has yet to be featured in a live-action fight with Batman in any of the films, but he's featured in plenty of other media. The fights between the croc and the bat are often really compelling because Batman has little wiggle room to rumble with Killer Croc, who could kill the Caped Crusader in an instant. It's a nice challenge for the caped crusader, who is used to pummeling groups of enemies like it's nothing.

While it's great to see Killer Croc get his time to shine in the upcoming live-action television series, it would be nice for fans to see a more CGI version of the character in a similar way to how King Shark was brought to the screen in The Suicide Squad. Seeing a towering reptilian monster would be much scarier than an actor in heavy makeup and prosthetics. Still, both this and Suicide Squad have done a good job at emulating the character for the big/small screen.

Batwoman airs on Wednesday at 9:00 p.m. on The CW.
