Battlefleet Gothic: Armada 2 is a real-time strategy game set inside the Warhammer 40,000 universe put out by Focus Home Interactive in 2019. It follows Admiral Spire of the Imperium as he battles the Chaos Undivided, the Orks, the Eldar, Dark Eldar, the Tau, the Tyranids, and the Necrons. It follows the space-based conflict between these factions, and the player can take control over any of them.

As with any fairly popular PC game, there is a very active and vibrant modding community with their sights set on improving on the base game and ironing out any flaws that might have made it past QA. Plus, players always enjoy customizing their experience, and modders are always ready to help players do so. Most of the following mods come from the modding hub known as Nexus Mods.

6 Base Game Files Can Ensure Your Campaign Isn't Messed Up

The Base Game Files mod ensures that the player is able to keep a set of unedited campaign save files should they forget to back up their saves and decide to alter the game to a significant degree with mods.

Essentially, this mod adds a failsafe and a place to go back to should the player cause something they don't want to happen in the campaign. This applies to both the main campaign and the Chaos Campaign Expansion. This mod comes from Nexus Mod user Eshir.

5 No Boarding Mechanic/Auger Probe CD 10s Makes Some Tweaks

Sometimes, a mechanic just doesn't work for a group of players. It can become annoying, unbalanced, or just generally unfun (the Zann Consortium in Star Wars Empire at War: Forces of Corruption comes to mind). Thankfully, modders have the magical ability to make such things completely disappear.

The No Boarding Mechanic/Auger Probe CD 10s mod tweaks the game to remove the boarding mechanic by lowering the range and angle for boarding. It also gives a 10 second cooldown time to the Auger Probes to balance that mechanic. This one comes from modder Eshir. There is also a separate mod from Eshir that just gives the 10 second cooldown to the Auger Probes without removing the boarding mechanic.

4 Chaos Buff Gives The Dreaded Chaos More Power

Armada 2 Chaos Campaign Expansion Art

Chaos is the broad name given to the demonic forces of the Warp that can corrupt and control living creatures in Real Space, turning them against their own. Armada 2 was granted a Chaos Campaign Expansion that allows the player to go through a story as the Unified Chaos faction.

The Chaos Buff mod rebalances Chaos so that they put out more damager per second, making them an even more formidable and overwhelming force. It affects all Chaos ships at all times, so the modder, once again Esher. recommends not keeping the mod active when not playing the Chaos campaign.

3 Campaign Changes And Upgrades Improves Quality Of Life

A videogames flaws are more likely to show over time, especially if things are left unchanged and not tweaked over a long period of time. Thankfully, modders can extend the quality of life of a game by tweaking things to keep the game enjoyable and fresh.

The Campaign Changes and Upgrades mod does just that by helping ships turn faster and upgrade defensive turrets to repel bombers. This mod also comes from Nexus user Esher.

2 Veritatem Imperialis II Xenotide Adds New Ships To The Game

This mod adds new ships to Battlefleet Gothic: Armada 2 with some attempts to keep things balanced across the board. It also adds "Xenotide," which has the various Xenos alien factions fighting with new and upgraded ships all their own.

The mod also makes some tweaks to the Chaos campaign, which was added in DLC to Armada 2. The Veritatem Imperialis II: Xenotide mod comes from a dedicated dev team and, unlike the others on this list, isn't found on Nexus Mods but instead Mod DB.

1 Skalgrim Is A Comprehensive Overhaul To The Game

Armada 2 Skalgrim Mod

The Skalgrim mod is among the most ambitious and comprehensive mods added to Battlefleet Gothic: Armada 2. It adds new ships and rebalances pre-existing ships. It plays with the concept of subfactions (particularly the Chaos faction, as it includes several kinds of Chaos demons and corrupted Chaos units) inserts the Tau into the campaign, alters the campaign in several ways, and aims to make the game more loyal to the lore and story of Warhammer 40k.

It can't be stressed enough how much this mod adds to the game. It adds several lore-important capital ships that can really change a player's experience, and it even adds new Titans and Mega Titan ships that can dominate the Gothic sector. This mod surely came from the Skalgrim Mod Team and was uploaded by Nexus Mod user TacitusGermanicus.
