Today, DICE and Electronic Arts confirmed that the comedian and host of The Daily Show, Trevor Noah, would anchor next week's reveal of Battlefield V, with many having speculated as to what the official title of the forthcoming sequel in the first-person shooter franchise would be. Now, the companies have confirmed that the next entry in the series will indeed be titled the oft-rumored name Battlefield V thanks to the release of official marketing materials.

As seen in the image below, DICE and Electronic Arts have updated the official Battlefield website to reflect the forthcoming sequel's inclusion of what is presumably the Roman numeral "V", but there's still a chance that it could actually be the letter itself and pronounced "vee". The companies have also provided exact times for the reveal date's livestream, with fans of the franchise getting their first look at the game next Wednesday at 1:00 PM PT / 4:00 PM ET.

For those unaware, Battlefield V was reportedly titled as much well before any actual details of the release itself were shared by DICE and Electronic Arts, as screenshots from a leaked test build for the game revealed the name for the next installment in the military first-person shooter several months ago. This led to outlets dubbing the unannounced sequel as such right up until today's confirmation from the publisher and developer that the leak was correct all along.

All things considered, while many Battlefield fans will surely be glad that the actual title for the sequel has been established, it's safe to say that their attention has now turned toward learning exactly what kind of assets will be on display for the shooter's reveal next week. If history is any indication, then the safest bet to make will be a cinematic trailer of sorts, with gameplay to be unveiled either just ahead of or during E3 2018.

Battlefield V has officially been announced, but currently lacks a release date and confirmed platforms.
