Not too long ago, Battlefield 1 players managed to crack an intricately designed Easter egg in the game's Fort de Vaux map that led to the insinuation that the publisher Electronic Arts is planning to reveal Battlefield V on May 23, 2018. Now, it looks as if the tease is correct, as the comedian and host of Comedy Central's The Daily Show, Trevor Noah, has confirmed that he will helm the official unveiling of the next sequel in EA's first-person shooter franchise.

As seen in the tweet below from Trevor Noah's official Twitter account, the comic states that Battlefield V's Live Reveal will take place on Wednesday, May 23, 2018, and fans will be able to watch it streaming on the game's YouTube channel. While he doesn't explicitly use the Roman numeral for "5" in the advertisement, Noah does tease that "V" will be a part of the final title by writing "V EXCITING" and sipping from a mug with the letter on it in the embedded video.

While DICE and Electronic Arts have yet to openly acknowledge any actual gameplay details related to Battlefield V, that hasn't stopped the Internet rumor mill from churning out a steady stream of speculation regarding the forthcoming release. For instance, a report from several months ago has pointed toward the likelihood of the title being set during World War II. Should this be the case, then the game could be taking a cue from Activision and Sledgehammer Games' Call of Duty: WW2.

Although there's no telling exactly what will be shown off during next week's reveal for Battlefield V, it's a safe bet to make that the official unveiling will mostly revolve around a highly polished trailer designed to highlight the cleanest-looking visuals developed so far. After all, it was confirmed several months ago that a reveal trailer was in the works, suggesting that DICE and Electronic Arts intend on displaying the most polished assets possible right out of the gate.

Battlefield V is currently without an official release date, and has yet to be announced for specific platforms.
