Last week, it was announced that the upcoming Battlefield V had been delayed to the end of November, apparently so the developers can continue to polish the experience, and also to avoid being sandwiched between the likes of Black Ops 4 and Red Dead Redemption 2. Despite the game being delayed by a month, the previously announced beta dates are still in effect, with the open beta live now for those with early access.

To get into the Battlefield V early access open beta, players have a few different options. On all platforms, they can pre-order the game, at which point they will get a code that they can input to gain access to the beta. On PC and Xbox One, players can sign up for EA Access, which will let them download the beta and start playing without having to pre-order.

However, getting the beta through EA Access on Xbox One is not quite as straightforward as it seems. We didn't see any option to download the Battlefield V open beta in the EA Access Hub, and were also unable to find it when searching in the Microsoft Store on the Xbox One. Instead we had to visit this link, sign in to our Gamertag, and then choose to install it on our Xbox. After this, the Battlefield V open beta appeared in our "Ready to install" section on the dashboard.

Even after opening the Battlefield V open beta, it told us that we could only start playing if we pre-ordered the game. While some may worry this means that the beta isn't recognizing EA Access subscribers, just decline the pre-order invitation and start searching for a game. From our testing, it works despite these weird technical issues.

Anyone who doesn't mind waiting a couple of days to play the Battlefield V open beta can jump in on the action this coming Thursday, September 6. The beta will come to a close on Tuesday, September 11, so anyone who wants to try Battlefield V ahead of its launch will want to take the opportunity to do so now.

In the meantime, EA Access subscribers will have another chance to play Battlefield V before launch, as the game will have an early access free trial available to all subscribers at the beginning of November.
