Yesterday, EA and DICE officially lifted the lid on Battlefield V. With an explosive reveal trailer, fans of the first-person shooter franchise got a glimpse at the game's bombastic multiplayer action full of vehicles, nail-biting shootouts, and opportunities to fight alongside friends and strangers on the virtual battlefield. People are eager to get their hands on the game, and thankfully, there will be a way to play the title a little earlier than expected.

Officially, the Battlefield V release date is October 19, but EA has also confirmed that the game will have an early access period. Subscribers to EA Access and Origin Access, EA's Xbox One and PC subscription services (respectively), will be able to play Battlefield V on October 11 as part of a Play First Trial. Those who order the Battlefield V Deluxe Edition, meanwhile, will be able to play the game beginning on October 16. EA Access isn't available on PS4, so the Deluxe Edition is the next best thing for PS4 players who want to gain access to the game early.

Battlefield V pay to win

EA has also detailed the Battlefield V pre-order bonuses. The publisher says that anyone who pre-orders the game (either the standard or deluxe edition) will get the Enlister Offer which includes access to one of eight Special Soldier Sets (soldier customization sets), access to Special Assignments during launch week, and immediate access to five weapons to use in Battlefield 1. To celebrate the Battlefield V announcement, EA has already offered up some bonuses to Battlefield 1 players this week by making the In the Name of the Tsar DLC expansion free, so those weapon unlocks will only sweeten the pot.

Pre-ordering also grants people early access to the Battlefield V open beta. Dates for the open beta have yet to be announced, but the tests could be a good way to stress test the game's servers ahead of launch. The Battlefield 1 player base doubled that of Battlefield 4 at launch, and if Battlefield V's player base increases in a similar fashion, the game's servers may be unable to cope. No one wants to be faced with huge lag or server downtime right when they want to play.

It is worth noting that there are a few pre-order offers for the game at different retailers. For example, electronics retailer Best Buy is offering $10 rewards eligibility to those who pre-order either the deluxe or standard edition of the game. More pre-order savings could be available in the run-up to release, so fans are encouraged to shop around.

Battlefield V will be released on October 19, 2018, on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
