After what seemed like a decent start, Visceral and DICE’s recent Battlefield Hardline has struggled to maintain strong player numbers. In fact, Battlefield 4, which was released over a year and a half ago, currently claims more regular players than the newest Battlefield addition.
Despite that challenge, the game’s developers are committed to providing a positive, exciting experience for those players still handing out justice to criminals on the streets of Battlefield Hardline. Part of that commitment includes a fair amount of DLC, the first round of which is set to release next week.
Publisher Electronic Arts revealed the full list of additions for the DLC, dubbed Criminal Activity, on the Battlefield website today. In the post, EA provided a list of additions included in the DLC. and confirmed that Battlefield Premium members will be able to go hands-on with the new content in June. Here’s what the DLC pack includes:
- Four fast-paced new maps – Backwoods, Code Blue, The Beat and Black Friday
- Two new rides
- Two new ammunition types for specific weapons
- A new gadget
- Three new weapons
- A nailgun battlepickup
- New Bounty Hunter game mode
- Six new masks: two animal masks, and four new police headgear options
While there’s nothing groundbreaking from the above list, it’s at least a fairly decent amount of extra content for the Battlefield Hardline DLC. Four new maps should help alleviate the concern of many Battlefield Hardline players who voiced disappointment with the small number of maps that launched with the game.
For our part, it will be interesting to see how well the nailgun is received by players. First person shooter gamers tend to appreciate a little deviation from the norm when it comes to weapon choice, so something as simple yet unique as a nailgun should offer a twist that Battlefield fans will appreciate.
We’re also interested to hear more about the new Bounty Hunter game mode. Neither the developers nor publisher have yet to share any information about the mode, though we assume by the name it will focus on players seeking out and killing one particular enemy. We expect more information will drop soon about this mode as we near the release of Criminal Activity.
There’s no doubt EA, Visceral, and DICE are hoping an influx of new content will entice more players to enter the world of Battlefield Hardline. Whether it’s new players or those who abandoned Hardline for other games, we’re sure the trio of studios are anxious to get players back into the game.
Criminal Activity is included with Battlefield Premium, or can be purchased individually for $15. Battlefield Premium members will receive early access to the DLC.
Battlefield Hardline: Criminal Activity is set to release in early June for PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.
