The publisher of the Battlefield series, Electronic Arts, has confirmed that a new Battlefield game will be released in 2018. Though EA has yet to confirm any details about the game and what it might offer fans, including whether it will be a modern shooter or if it will keep the series in the past.

EA may not have confirmed much about the game so far, but a notorious leaker has now spilled the beans. In a new video, YouTuber AlmightyDaq claims that the next Battlefield game will be Battlefield: Bad Company 3, following Battlefield: Bad Company 2, which released in 2010. The YouTuber says that "various locations across the campaign are revolving around mid and post-Vietnam conflict." This does include some "Cold War affiliations" but fans should not expect the game to be entirely historically accurate.

AlmightyDaq's video also clues fans in on Bad Company 3's multiplayer. Game modes will include: Conquest, Capture the Flag, Rush, Operations, Domination, Team Deathmatch (TDM), and a 5v5 game mode that will be similar to Battlefield 4's Squad Obliteration. Meanwhile, maps will offer "tighter gameplay" with less focus on "all-out warfare," comparable to Battlefield: Bad Company 2 maps such as Oasis and Harvest Day.

Battlefield: Bad Company 3 will also offer Vietnam and Cold War-era guns and "extensive" customization that rivals Battlefield 4. Guns, characters, and vehicles can all be customized and the set of vehicles includes helicopters, modern tanks, and LAVs (light-armored vehicles).

AlmightyDaq's video even touches upon the recent Star Wars Battlefront 2 loot box backlash. Battlefield: Bad Company 3's microtransactions will not follow in the footsteps of that controversial game. The YouTuber acknowledges the potential for Battlepacks but says that the system could be "entirely scrapped" due to the microtransaction backlash.

Like any rumor, it's important to take AlmightyDaq's video with a pinch of salt. But many viewers believe the YouTuber's information because AlmightyDaq also revealed a huge amount of Battlefield 1 information (including its setting, its weapons, and the names of some maps) months before the game's official reveal. The YouTuber may actually have an inside line on Battlefield game development and it's reasonable to suggest that this leaked Battlefield: Bad Company 3 information is legitimate too.

Unfortunately, Battlefield fans may have some time to wait until this information is confirmed. Battlefield: Bad Company 3 will not be revealed until E3 2018, says AlmightyDaq, so fans will just have to cross their fingers until then.

Battlefield: Bad Company 3 is rumored to be in development for unspecified consoles.
