DICE and EA have acknowledged that Battlefield 6 exists, but nothing is known about the game beyond that. While there are no official Battlefield 6 details for fans to sink their teeth into, there have been plenty of leaks about the game and what it may entail. The latest rumor suggests that the new Battlefield game will actually end up being released on Microsoft's Xbox Game Pass subscription service on day one.

This rumor stems from video game leaker Shpeshal Ed, who teased as much on a recent episode of TheXboxEra podcast. During the podcast, Shpeshal Ed said that there is a third-party triple-A FPS game that's "very highly likely" to be launching on the Xbox Game Pass service. The assumption is that Shpeshal Ed is referring to Battlefield 6, as there aren't many other games that fit that description.

The other possibility that's been thrown around is the 2021 Call of Duty game, rumored to be titled Call of Duty: Vanguard, but that seems far more unlikely. After all, Activision seems to have a strong relationship with Sony, with some Call of Duty content PlayStation-exclusive. And with Call of Duty being the top-selling game nearly every year, it wouldn't make much sense for Activision to give up those sales for the game to appear on Game Pass.

EA, on the other hand, seems to have quite a strong relationship with Microsoft. This relationship has seen the EA Play service bundled with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, giving Game Pass subscribers access to all of the games in the EA Play Vault. EA eventually adds all of its games to the Vault, so Battlefield 6 will be available on Game Pass eventually, even if it's not the game that's being hinted at by leakers.

If Battlefield 6 is available on Xbox Game Pass Ultimate on day one, it doesn't necessarily mean that it will also be available through EA Play, however. EA Play is also on PlayStation, and if this is a deal to get Battlefield 6 to Game Pass subscribers specifically, that wouldn't make much sense. Assuming there's any truth to Shpeshal Ed's claims, fans should find out this fall.

Regardless, Battlefield 6 coming to Xbox Game Pass would be a huge move in a year when Xbox has been incredibly aggressive with adding titles to the service. Microsoft's acquisition of ZeniMax Media has seen 20 Bethesda games added to Game Pass, and it also secured the major third-party release Outriders for Game Pass as well. Microsoft has even secured PlayStation-developed MLB The Show 21 as a day one Xbox Game Pass game, so it seems subscribers are going to get more than their money's worth this year.

Battlefield is in development for unspecified platforms.
