There is a lot of excitement and anticipation around the latest Battlefield game, which is set to be revealed in June. Battlefield games have been a staple in the first-person shooter genre, offering players solid stories and immersive gameplay. Despite Battlefield 5 experiencing some negativity due to a poor multiplayer experience, players were still able to enjoy the campaign.

However, fans of the series who prioritize and enjoy the campaign may find themselves disappointed after a new report from a dedicated Battlefield leaker, Tom Henderson, reported that the campaign for Battlefield 6 might be excluded.

It's critical to remember that the global pandemic could result in hurried development for Battlefield 6, which could very well explain the alleged absence of a campaign mode. Henderson pointed out that it's odd for EA not to have mentioned a campaign in its latest earnings call where it spoke about multiple aspects for the upcoming game. "I had a look back at the past EA earnings calls, but this is the first earnings call where EA has not mentioned a campaign coming to this year's Battlefield," Henderson stated.

Despite the lack of news, Henderson also stated, "As I've mentioned for the past couple of months, I'm yet to hear of a campaign. It doesn't mean there isn't one, but it's very, very unusual to not hear of one in an info dump." It's important to remember that this doesn't come as confirmation, as it's only speculation for now. Besides, it could be that EA is waiting for the reveal to showcase its story trailer and generate as much hype as it can from advertising for Battlefield 6.

Worth mentioning is that EA also hasn't said anything about a battle royale mode either, but many rumors indicate that one will make its way to Battlefield 6. Nevertheless, on the other side of the FPS genre, the upcoming Call of Duty is also surrounded by rumors about a lack of multiplayer mode. Still, Activision hasn't made any official statements acknowledging this rumor. All is this is to say that rumors generally run wild when it comes to two of the biggest FPS games in the industry, so take these rumors with a grain of salt.

Currently, neither EA nor DICE has made an official statement about a campaign for Battlefield 6 and hasn't acknowledged any rumors, nor Henderson's comments. The Battlefield franchise is one of the biggest in the industry, so rumors are bound to spark ahead of the reveal of a new installment. However, this is a good time for fans to keep their expectations checked as well, especially as the past year has been highly problematic for game development. The pandemic has increasingly made it harder for teams to communicate and work efficiently, so a lack of story mode is all too possible.

Battlefield 6's release date remains unknown, but the game is set to be revealed in June.
