EA and DICE have come out swinging with new Battlefield V information at GamesCom 2018. Last week, fans got a glimpse at the destructive combat awaiting them in the Destruction of Rotterdam trailer. For many fans, however, the most exciting aspect came at the end, where the trailer showed off a very brief glimpse of the Battle Royale style mode DICE is planning complete with a terrifying ring of fire. Earlier today, another new trailer arrived, this time focusing on a new feature of the series called The Company.

Featuring all-new in-engine footage, this latest Battlefield V trailer introduces players to The Company, their own personalized collection of soldiers, weapons, and vehicles. Battlefield has always been a franchise that embraced customization and player choice, though Battlefield V appears to take things further by letting players customize weapons that not only change how they look but how they perform as well. Playing the game, battling through Tides of War, and completing various specializations unlocks new skins and items that can be applied to The Company to grow and evolve their appearance.

In addition to customization, The Company enables players to apply different combat roles to the four established classes: Assault, Medic, Recon, and Support. Each role has a unique loadout specializing in different aspects of the class. For example, the Recon has different loadouts based around long range, stealth, or team assisting spotting. Medics have various loudouts designed to help keep teammates arrive longer, Assault gains various new tools for engaging with enemies, and Support class roles offer new ways to work with the attrition and fortification systems. With different tools and gear available for each role, playing a class will likely feel different depending on the loadout selected.

The expanded customization options should go a long way in helping players make each character their own. Unfortunately, vehicle customization won't be ready at launch as a recent post confirmed that vehicle and aircraft visual customization arrives sometime after launch. Players won't have to wait too long to take this new Company feature for a spin as EA and DICE recently announced that an open beta will be arriving on September 4 for those who pre-ordered and two days later for everyone else.

Battlefield V launches on October 19, 2018 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
