Battlefield 5 successfully built on its predecessors and continued to deliver high-quality first-person military action. It's been well over a year since the release of the game, and fans will be happy that the title is still receiving updates as well as new content. The latest DLC (Into the Jungle) is set in the Solomon Islands and will focus on the conflict between the Japanese and the Americans, a trailer revealed more details about the new content.

The Battlefield franchise began in 2002, focusing on first-person shooting and historical battles. Over the last 18 years, the franchise has built an impressive reputation and has become very profitable. With that said, Battlefield 5 was a commercial disappointment despite selling over 7 million copies. Clearly, the series has high commercial expectation and players of the series expect quality games. Time will tell whether this DLC can deliver the quality that is anticipated from players, but early signs are positive.

The new trailer for Battlefield 5: Into the Jungle illustrates unlockable elite characters, weapons, and maps. The new maps look narrow and cover beach areas as well as deep forests as players attempt to take and retain the island. There are also unlockable items such as cosmetics which will undoubtedly encourage multiple playthroughs. Perhaps the most notable new item is the lunge mine, which will surely lead to interesting player strategies. In short, the latest DLC looks to bring plenty of new content for Battlefield 5 fans.

The focus on Pacific battles from World War 2 has impressed fans of Battlefield 5. The early reception to the latest trailer suggests that this enthusiasm will continue, although some players will likely want more drastic improvements. In terms of major changes to gameplay, fans will likely have to wait until the sequel to Battlefield 5. While it hasn't been officially announced, plenty of players are anticipating a new game for a new generation. With the success of the series on this generation of consoles, it would be very surprising to not see the franchise deliver another installment.

While many wait for a sequel to Battlefield 5, there should be plenty for players to sink their teeth into with the DLC's in the meantime. It will be interesting to see how much more content the title brings as it nears two years since its original release. Many will hope that there is plenty more to come, but if a sequel is announced, the focus of the development teams may change.
