Battlefield 5 Dev Teasing Dinosaurs

If a very cryptic and hidden series of messages is to be believed, Battlefield 5 might be set to add Dinosaurs to its realistic military shooter game. Considering Battlefield’s history with dinosaurs and fake or prehistoric creatures like the Megalodon, it’s not too far-fetched to imagine the large creatures making their way into the game, but there are a few logic leaps necessary to draw the connection.

YouTube content creator JackFrags has a lengthy video that breaks down the evidence that supports dinosaurs being added to Battlefield 5, which you can watch below. But the key component that seemingly teases the dinosaurs is the use of red flares, both in the game and by developer messages.

For example, there is a Battlefield 5 development flow chart that apparently has a series of Morse code dots at the bottom of one of its graphics. Decoding the message delivers the phrase, “Soon preround red flares.” It sounds like a lot of nonsense, but Battlefield conspiracy theorists are taking that to be a reference to the red flares used in the Jurassic Park movies.

Some Battlefield 5 developers at DICE have even responded to messages or posted tweets with gifs featuring the Jurassic Park series’ iconic red flare scenes, further stoking the theorist flames regarding Battlefield and dinosaurs.

Things get even weirder thanks to an image posted by Senior Designer Niklas Astrand, which may have a pterodactyl hidden in the background. Again, it could be creating something from nothing, but the shadow does look a little like a pterodactyl.

So the question now is whether or not there is something bigger planned for Battlefield 5 involving dinosaurs or if there is a hidden Easter egg. Astrand is the one with the bulk of the dinosaur-related teases and he apparently put an Easter Egg in the game that no one had found as of March 23rd. Could he be trying to give players clues towards that, or is it just the tip of the iceberg. We do know that Battlefield 5 will be at E3 2019 and the EA Play event so perhaps a reveal is coming.

Battlefield 5 is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
