Battlefield 3 will be hitting stores this Tuesday, and it’s pre-orders have already surpassed 1.5 million as of mid September. The launch of this highly anticipated title has prompted YouTube’s Freddie W  to bring us his rendition of how a Battlefield 4 trailer may look like.

It’s a bit soon to be thinking about the next iteration of the Battlefield franchise (or is it), but news this past week with PS4 games being in development is already fueling speculation of what the next generation of games will look like.

Battlefield 3 – with the assistance of the Frostbite 2 engine – will be pushing consoles and PCs to their limit when it launches. The game will be sporting some of the best graphics seen this generation, requiring PC gamers to have some powerful rigs to run the game.

For those who don’t know, Freddie Wong and his crew are famous for creating spectacular special effects in his action-oriented YouTube videos and this isn’t his first time predicting what the future of gaming will look like. In the past couple months, he gave us a look at the future of motion controls and warned of the dangers of allowing friends to play with inverted controls.

His latest work isn’t so much about recreating an actual battle, but to display that the next game in the Battlefield series may look so realistic that players may not be able to tell the difference between fantasy and reality. Check the trailer below.

Development on the PS4 and the Xbox 720 are already underway, with the industry believing that Microsoft will unveil their next console at E3 2012 and launch by the end of 2013.

The PS3 and Xbox 360 are hitting their limits in terms of graphics and it makes sense that the next Battlefield game will blur the lines between photo realism and computer graphics. Even the next Uncharted game can’t be run on current hardware, which makes one wonder how it will look on the PS4.

The launch of Battlefield 3 kicks off this holiday’s battle between the two of the most popular first-person shooters in the industry. Regardless of what side you’re on it’s an awesome time to be a gamer.

Battlefield 3 hits stores on October 25th for PS3, Xbox 360 and PC.
