The long-awaited first expansion to Battlefield 3 is now available on all platforms! Releasing a week early for PS3 players, the Back to Karkand DLC adds four remastered classic maps from the franchise and with them, new vehicles and weapons.
For another look into what Back to Karkand offers in terms of gameplay, check out the new Battlefield 3: Back to Karkand launch trailer which takes us into the heart of the Sharqi Peninsula map.
Previous gameplay trailers gave us an intimate look at the Gulf of Oman map and new vehicles as well as the fan-favorite Wake Island, a map that we late found out includes a little special Easter egg for fans with keen observation skills.
Now, let’s take a spin through the Sharqi Peninsula:
The trailer shows quite a few bits of aerial combat and this is a feature being worked on when it comes to planes, and balancing them against ground units..
Along with maps, we love patches! Patches that clean up bugs, balance weapons and vehicles and add content – something DICE is constantly at work on as they frequently polish the multiplayer experience of Battlefield 3. Be sure to check out the latest patch list to hit the PC version last week.
Along with the maps and vehicles, Back to Karkand also adds quite a few new weapons along with the appropriate in-game awards.
- Five new dog tags.
- Five new achievements/trophies.
- Three new vehicles (DPV, BTR-90, F-35B STOVL jet fighter).
- 10 iconic Battlefield weapons.
- A new persistence system where players complete assignments to earn their rewards.
The Battlefield 3 Back to Karkand expansion is now available on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360. It’s free to those who pre-orders and $14.99 for those who did not.
