Battlefield 3 American DLC Pack Rumor

[Update: No such announcement was made but DICE and Danger Close Games are hosting an event March 6 for GDC where announcements are expected regarding Battlefield 3.]

Battlefield 3 came out back in October, but in the three months since, its only added content came in the form of the Back to Karkand DLC which came bundled with pre-ordered versions of the game. Unfortunately for fans still actively playing, most of the recent buzz surrounding Battlefield 3 has focused on the growing issue of hackers and exploiters, which has developer DICE asking for help from the community and hiring an "Anti-Cheat Administrator" to help coordinate efforts to end the problem.

Very soon, we'll be able to look forward to better, greater things as Electronic Arts prepares to announce new downloadable content for Battlefield 3, potentially as early as next week.

EA is hosting an event in New York next week to showcase Mass Effect 3, Syndicate, SSX, Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning and of course, Battlefield 3, and according to their Q3 Earning's call, that's where a DLC announcement is likely to be made. In the Q&A section on the topic of DLC on EA's top franchises, Peter C. Ausnit, Vice President of Investor Relations, revealing the following:

"...you're going to hear some announcements from us on Battlefield actually as early as next week in an event we've got in New York."

The timing of this news fits in nicely alongside the rumor last week that Battlefield 3 could be seeing a new expansion by the beginning of the summer, one that YouTube user TheAustrianToast describes as the "All American" DLC pack. It was described as including maps based in New York City, Miami, New Jersey and San Francisco, but there was no credible source named.

What we can safely say is that the next Battlefield 3 DLC from DICE won't simply include maps, as they've stated before they wish to offer more than that. Expect even more vehicles, weapons, assignments and perhaps something we've not yet considered - hopefully some new modes.

Please DICE, add in in-game video capture and spectator modes. This is the big leagues!
