Battlefield 2042 got off to quite a rocky start as the game recently became available to those with early access. Now the developer, DICE, has issued a new server update in order to help rectify some of the many issues that players have been having with Battlefield 2042's online service.

One of the main issues that Battlefield 2042 is facing is that the game is causing some users' Xbox consoles to crash and shut their consoles off entirely. This seems to happen without warning either a few minutes into a multiplayer match or a few minutes before a match ends. This is quite a pressing issue considering that those who are able to play the game currently either preordered it or gained access to it via EA Play or Xbox Game Pass. These players were promised a week of early access but unfortunately, some Xbox players are not able to access the game at all at the moment.

The current issue that DICE is issuing changes to combat is the large number of lobbies that players are creating in order to farm XP. Some users are exploiting the ability to create custom lobbies in Battlefield 2042 as they are using these lobbies to farm bots and players that are only able to equip knives to level up and gain XP. This allows these players to level up much faster and gain access to better gear more quickly. This has pushed DICE to disable the ability to earn XP from custom games and nerf the amount of XP gained in the All-Out Warfare game mode.

This is most likely one of the reasons Battlefield 2042 has received such poor scores on Metacritic as this disables a feature that many players were not abusing to punish the select few that were. Luckily DICE has stated that these updates are only temporary until such a time that a proper fix is able to be implemented

Many reactions to Battlefield 2042 have been mixed at best as players are complaining about cheaters and bugs that have persisted from the beta up until the game's "early access" launch.

Another gripe for players has been Battlefield 2042's unstable frame rate on PC which is an issue that many players experienced during the game's beta as well. Famed Battlefield leaker, Tom Henderson said that this would be the case and he seemed to be right.

Battlefield 2042 releases November 17 on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
