It was no secret that DICE's Battlefield 2042 beta had its fair share of problems as many players were very vocal about the issues they experienced while playing the game. Battlefield 2042's beta was plagued by bugs and glitches from the day it released and not long after this servers began to fill with hackers and cheaters much to the player's and company's dismay.

One of the most concerning aspects about the beta was the fact that EA and DICE both separately confirmed that it was several months old when it released. One player even went as far as to make an "updated" Battlefield 2042 trailer that displayed the various bugs and glitches players experienced in the beta.

An anonymous source from DICE who confided in Tom Henderson (a well-known Call of Duty and Battlefield leaker) claims on the contrary that the build that players got on October 6 was actually only finished on September 20. A confusing detail about this scenario is that EA actually delayed Battlefield 2042's planned release date in October to November, which seems strange as if the game is in a troubled state, one would think it would be better to push it back further.

Another issue this source brought up was that these alleged development problems are the result of poor management. The source claimed that any issues that employees bring up to management seem to fall on deaf ears. A lack of creativity was also cited as an issue that players seemed to notice as a video was created showing the lack of features Battlefield 2042 had in comparison to older Battlefield releases.

The source even claims that some developers also seem to be fearing for their jobs which can greatly hamper the creative process. DICE and EA have yet to announce any possibilities of layoffs so only time will tell the accuracy of the source's claims. Battlefield 2042's delay and the state of it's open beta were good indications that its development has been less than smooth. In response to the large amount of criticism Battlefield 2042 received, EA is sending out survey forms asking players about issues such as map sizes, hit detection, and the game's A.I. Battlefield 2042 releases in one month so it will be interesting to see how DICE and EA attempt to combat these issues in such a short time span.

Battlefield 2042 releases on November 19, 2021 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
