For all its issues, Battlefield 2042 still manages to give its players the necessary tools to recreate the classic “Battlefield Moments.” The most iconic play that was made in the past was the Rendezook, and one player has paid tribute to the moment by pulling off the same kill in Battlefield 2042.

Absurd Battlefield 2042 plays have already proven popular online, with players showing off their most ridiculous kills through social media. However, while it is fun to see a hovercraft take out a helicopter, or a player dive on top of a helicopter to destroy it with some C4, nothing can compete with the Rendezook. With the original taking place almost a decade ago during a match of Battlefield 3, a fan has decided to pay tribute to Stun_gravy’s viral clip.

The Rendezook has become legendary amongst the franchise’s fan base, with DICE even including a cinematic version of the play in the Battlefield 2042 reveal trailer. Rendezook gets its name from the act of blowing up a jet with a bazooka and rendezvousing back with the jet that the player initially jumped out of. Given that it requires a ton of luck and skill, as the enemy player’s jet needs to be in the right position, few have been able to successfully recreate the original video. However, Redditor Ashimdude has pulled it off.

The 30-second Battlefield 2042 clip begins like one would expect. Two jets are dogfighting, with Ashimdude tricking the opponents to follow them as they fly straight up into the sky. Once they get high enough into the air, they eject, flying even higher up into the clouds. Eventually, the enemy jet comes into their line of sight, with the player firing off a launcher shot as soon as it comes into view. They nail the difficult, mid-air launcher shot, turning back to their own vehicle.

The last few seconds of the clip see the player skydiving toward their jet, successfully getting back into the plane and flying off. In the comments, the Battlefield 2042 player clarifies that they did not actually use the SOFLAM to lock onto the jet, as the target from the device was only used to help them see the plane. Considering that the player did not aim with the launcher, this statement is accurate, and the clip is indeed a proper rendezook. Unsurprisingly, the comments are filled with praise, with many shocked that the gamer was able to pull off the classic trick so smoothly.

While Battlefield 2042 reviews from both critics and players have made the game’s many problems clear, it is nice to see players like Ashimdude still having fun with it. Hopefully, the game will improve with time, attracting more players so that incredible clips like this one become even more common.

Battlefield 2042 is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
