While not technically released yet, fans have taken to Battlefield 2042 early thanks to early access granted by the Gold and Ultimate Editions of the game as well as the EA Play service. So far, fans appear divided over the game, praising certain additions and features like the community driven Portal mode. Through Portal, fans can create their dream modes with custom rules using classic experiences of Battlefield Bad Company 2, Battlefield 1942, and Battlefield 3.

One major change to the typical Battlefield formula is the removal of the four class archtypes in favor of specialist units each with their own abilities. This change has proven controversial so far and has ultimately divided the fanbase with many wishing the classic core classes would make a return instead. However, there are plenty who have embraced the specialist though with many gravitating towards Emma "Sundance" Rosier and their unique wingsuit ability.

This assault specialist is capable of launching off of high structures and instead of using a parachute, instead opening a wingsuit to cover huge distances of the map. While great for positioning and manueverability, players have gotten pretty creative with the specialist Sundance and their wingsuit and have started to showcase a number of impressive kills using the ability.

In one clip posted to the Battlefield 2042 subReddit, user sensei_downey jumped off a sand dune, activated the wingsuit hovering a few feet above the ground. In an impressive showcase, they found an enemy laying prone and quickly quickscoped them using a sniper rifle all in one motion.

Over on the Breakaway map set in Antarctica, a user named Dashram20 glides high in the sky between two glaciers when they notice an enemy player sniping below. As they approach, they switch to a rocket launcher and fire it just as another teammate spawns in, getting two quick kills before activating the wingsuit again and flying off.

While patrolling the skies of Renewal in Egypt, user Frank-the-First showcases their ability to hunt down tanks while in the wingsuit. Using the tornado to help propel them over the midsection wall, they spot a tank far below, zooms down in front of it, and uses 2 C4 explosives to take it out scoring a multi-kill.

Finally, creating a wingsuit montage is joeytman which highlights multiple moments within Battlefield 2042 including a few involving taking out enemy soldiers using a rocket launcher while zooming overhead. In another clip, they land near an enemy and take out a knife to finish them off, even though the distance between them appears to be fairly significant. Another clip, which could be mistaken for a Michael Bay movie, has joeytman soaring over the rooftops on Orbital, taking out a couple enemies using the rocket launcher before landing and finishing a few more with their gun.

With Battlefield 2042 launching in full this coming week, players are hopeful that DICE can turn the game around as highlighted by its current negative user reviews. The Battlefield series is no stranger to rough launches so it stands to reason that with a bit of time, patience, and updates, Battlefield 2042 can continue to improve.

Battlefield 2042 releases November 19 on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. Players with EA Play or Xbox Game Pass gain one week early access.
