DICE has just released footage that highlights the abilities of some of the Specialists from the upcoming newest entry in the Battlefield series, Battlefield 2042. Battlefield 2042 is arguably the most highly anticipated FPS in a year stacked with them, and fans have patiently been waiting for more information as the game’s release date gets nearer.

Battlefield 2042, as the name suggests, is set in the future and will have a big focus on Specialists that will have their own unique skills and tools. The game will launch with 10 Specialists, and it will serve as a redefined class system that was present in the earlier games. Large-scale warfare will be a big part of Battlefield 2042, as the next-generation and PC versions of the game will feature massive 128-player battles.

The new trailer combines the individual videos for 4 different Specialists present in Battlefield 2042. The Specialists highlighted are - Webster Mackay, Maria Falck, Pyotr "Boris" Guskovsky, and Wikus "Casper" Van Daele. It gives an overview of their unique ability and trait, while also sharing some background information for each. Mackay is shown utilizing his grappling hook to reach a balcony before assassinating an unsuspecting enemy, while Falck uses her ability to heal allies from a relatively far away. Similarly, it shows Boris planting his sentry turrets on the battlefield and Casper noticing an enemy behind him with the help of his movement sensor.

In a follow up tweet, DICE has posted a link where fans can find the HD version of the same video. The Specialist system feels like a natural evolution of the class system from previous games, and all gameplay footage from Battlefield 2042 continues to look stunning. DICE is probably hoping that it encourages fans to diversify their squad composition, but there is always a chance that one Specialist may be too overpowered and dominates every match in Battlefield 2042.

As of today, 5 Specialists have been revealed for Battlefield 2042, and the official page on EA’s website shows “REDACTED” in place of the remaining 5 slots. Last month, DICE released footage that highlighted the abilities of another Specialist named Irish.

It was previously confirmed that Battlefield 2042 will not have a single-player campaign, but its multiplayer offerings seem robust enough to be worth the asking price. Its continued success may very well depend upon how long the novelty of its massive player count lasts. As of now, it is shaping up to be the next big pillar of FPS games for years to come.

Battlefield 2042 releases October 22 on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
