One of the biggest games of E3 2021 is coming from a publisher that's not officially participating in the event. Electronic Arts is working the system for the better with the announcement of Battlefield 2042, however. Battlefield 2042 was announced via a special presentation prior to E3 2021 and will be further showcased at EA Play 2021 in July. As for E3 itself, EA's now confirmed in a short teaser that it's showcasing Battlefield 2042 as part of the Xbox E3 2021 press conference.

The new Battlefield 2042 teaser itself is brief, but exciting. It runs just 15 seconds long and only 2-3 seconds of that features actual Battlefield 2042 footage. However, for just 2-3 seconds, it certainly gets its message across. The clip shows a mid-air battle from multiple perspectives as multiple jets and helicopters fire rockets in every direction. A soldier shouting, "Mayday! Mayday!" is layered over the top of the action. Then, as the trailer ends, the words, "Gameplay Premier Tomorrow," are shown on-screen.

A connection with the Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase isn't made in the trailer itself, likely so all of EA's partners can share the teaser. That connection is instead made in the Twitter message itself. The official Battlefield account's post says, "#Battlefield 2042 on the world's biggest stage. Cya tomorrow." A link to the official website for Xbox's press conference is then included. Xbox and EA appear to have officially partnered for one of the biggest reveals of E3 2021.

This past week EA officially announced Battlefield 2042 with a gorgeous five-minute cinematic trailer. The reveal confirmed Battlefield 2042 is a near-future first-person multiplayer shooter. The trailer played out like a series of Twitch clips capturing some of players' most exciting Battlefield moments. The reveal trailer also teased massive weather events that could mean the return of extreme map events, a feature that will hopefully be further showcased in tomorrow's gameplay reveal.

What Battlefield fans are likely most excited for is an in-depth exploration of what Battlefield 2042's near-future gameplay really means. They'll be looking for what weapons, vehicles, and gadgets EA will have implemented in this new game. Of course, seeing Battlefield 2042's 128-player lobbies in action and how game modes progress with Battlefield 2042's new "sandbox-style" action will also be looked for, too.

Battlefield 2042's gameplay will be revealed as part of the Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase Sunday, June 13, at 10:00 am PT/1:00 pm ET. That won't be it for Battlefield 2042, however. EA Play Live 2021 will air on July 22, with a more specific time still to be announced. By the time Battlefield 2042 launches later this year, EA will have made sure fans know exactly what's worth looking forward to.

Battlefield 2042 releases October 22 on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
