Following months of rumors, leaks, and speculation, EA and DICE have officially revealed Battlefield 2042. The near-future Battlefield game will launch on October 22 for numerous platforms, but those with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and EA Play will get some additional perks. From the looks of it, anyone that wants to get the most out of Battlefield 2042 will definitely want to sign up for one of the services.

Like many other EA-published games, Battlefield 2042 will have a 10 hour free trial available to all EA Play and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers beginning October 15, letting subscribers play the game a full week ahead of everyone else. Subscribers will also get first dibs on the Battlefield 2042 open beta, though more specific details on what exactly that will entail have yet to be revealed at the time of this writing.

On top of early access to the game and then open beta, EA Play and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate has other perks available for Battlefield 2042 players to take advantage of. There will be special rewards released to subscribers every month, though what those rewards are exactly remains to be seen. Additionally, subscribers can get 10% off when they purchase the full Battlefield 2042 game. And with Battlefield 2042's price being $10 higher on next-gen consoles, that discount will definitely come in handy.

To some, this may disprove the rumors that Battlefield 2042 is coming to Xbox Game Pass on day one. After all, if that was going to happen, one would think it would be mentioned in the list of perks. However, there's a chance that such an announcement could still take place, and the perfect opportunity for it to happen would be at the joint Xbox and Bethesda E3 2021 event taking place on June 13.

The Battlefield 2042 reveal trailer concluded by promising that the gameplay reveal would happen on June 13. An exact time wasn't mentioned, but June 13 coincides with the Xbox E3 2021 press conference. And with EA not having its E3-equivalent event until July 22, the logical conclusion is that the Battlefield 2042 gameplay reveal will most likely happen during the Xbox E3 2021 event. Xbox could potentially generate a ton of buzz for Xbox Game Pass by showing the Battlefield 2042 gameplay and then immediately announcing it as a day one Game Pass game.

Of course, the Battlefield 2042 Xbox Game Pass rumors could be fake, and so fans should keep that in mind as well. Luckily, those looking forward to Battlefield 2042 won't have to wait much longer to find out as the gameplay reveal is coming on June 13.

Battlefield 2042 launches October 22 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
