It seems an issue is afoot as an unexpected glitch in Battlefield 2042 allowed a player to survive a melee execution. Since the game's Early Access began for EA Play and EA Play Pro (and Gold and Ultimate Edition owners) players on November 12th, it's revealed some problems for them, and the list of bugs seems to be growing.

A Battlefield 2042 player discovered the bug while performing the newly adopted third-person melee, which allowed their target to survive the kill. Considering the decision made by DICE to change the melee execution from first-person to third-person, this new glitch isn't helping as players negatively received this change.

In a YouTube video posted by Battlefield 2042 Clips Daily showcasing Battlefield 2042's multiplayer gameplay, the player performs the melee execution. However, no damage seems dealt as the defending player proceeds to shoot them to death and claim their win. According to Reddit users, the glitch also limits the player from looking left, right, or swapping weapons after a melee execution is done as the game temporarily stalls. Apparently, the fix is spamming the knife button until the game comes out of its provisional coma.

Other than the melee hiccup, Battlefield 2042 is experiencing several bugs that continue to advance. DICE and EA seem to be on their toes as they tackle each glitch one after the other before the game's release and even published a list of these glitches advising players to be aware. Among them are: being unable to resurrect comrades in a fight, issues with the interface, mishaps with weapons and gadgets, and problems with the in-game vehicles. There are even issues with Battlefield 2042 crashing Xbox consoles during gameplay.

Viral Battlefield 2042 Video Looks Like Michael Bay Movie

Battlefield 2042 is the series's seventeenth installment, the successor to Battlefield V, and returns the series to its future endeavors reminiscent of 2006's Battlefield 2142. Glitches in this game are no new feature as, like most games, the series has experienced a number of problems with every release. Although DICE openly addresses them and has fixed many of these issues, some bugs still crawl about the series as named glitches for the Battlefield history books.

Battlefield 2042 is receiving negative reviews because of the array of unusual bugs, both jarring and disruptive in the worst moments. With fans posting such videos and bringing light to these issues, they will hopefully see improvement as these glitches are being addressed by DICE, who has been very responsive on these matters. Now a few hours shy of the game's release, players can look forward to updates as we hope these glitches can be fixed before the game's launch.

Battlefield 2042 will release on November 19th, 2021, on PC, PS4, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
