The Breakthrough mode in Battlefield 2042 gives players the option to play as attackers or defenders in seven distinct maps. Battle it out across gigantic sectors in diverse environments that include snow-capped mountains in Antarctica to green grasslands in Egypt. Take control of all the sectors on a map or kill all enemy reinforcements to win the match and get promoted up the ranks with the squad. Take a look at a few tips that players new to the Breakthrough mode can apply to make the most of every game.

10 Zoom In At Enemies For Better Aim

Every weapon in Battlefield 2042 comes with a scope to zoom in on enemies in battle. Click the right mouse button on PC or LT on Xbox or L2 on PlayStation to use the scope on a weapon. Zooming in on enemies lets people get a better aim on their kills and is more accurate than the crosshair on their guns.

Assault rifles and marksman rifles in Battlefield 2042 make for excellent long-range weapons. The zoom ability on the M5A3 and the SVK lets players flank foes from miles away. Sprinting and crouching while zooming in on enemies is a sure-shot strategy for victory in Breakthrough mode.

9 Attack Sectors Early

In Breakthrough mode, people can play as Attackers to charge into sectors and claim as their own or play as Defenders and protect sectors from being captured. Playing as Attackers requires gamers to be on the offense and infiltrate sectors early in the game.

For each sector captured, the team will be rewarded with 150 reinforcements. The Renewal map in Battlefield 2042 is set in the Eastern Desert in Egypt and has four sectors to be captured and takes about thirty minutes to claim victory.

8 Use Ranger To Round Up Enemies

Battlefield 2042 - Player chasing the Ranger

The Ranger is a utility that can be unlocked at level 5. By using the call-in system, people can request a ranger to be dropped off at a nearby location. The Ranger is a four-legged drone that can detect and destroy enemies with powerful weapons.

Players can interact with the Ranger with a special menu. The Ranger menu lets people request the drone for backup, healing, ammunition, pickup, and even say a nice little ‘Thank You’ for its services. The Ranger is ferocious on the battlefield and loyal to its owners.

7 Equip Ammunition Attachments

Equipping attachments can enhance weapons in a variety of ways. Be it submachine guns or assault rifles, players can choose to equip Sight, Ammunition, Barrel, and Underbarrel attachments. Ammunition is the simplest attachment and can help beginners get more kills out of their guns.

The M5A3 is an assault rifle with thirty bullets per round. It can be increased to forty bullets by equipping an extended magazine as an Ammunition attachment. K30 is a submachine gun that can be unlocked at level 53. It has twenty bullets per round. An additional thirty bullets can be added to the magazine by equipping the Standard Issue Ammunition attachment to K30.

6 Call-In M1A5 To Devastate Enemies

Armored vehicles make a ton of difference to the gameplay in Battlefield 2042. Tanks such as the M1A5 are heavily armored and can be brought to a nearby location on-demand using the call-in system. The M1A5 has primary weapons and secondary weapons that are capable of shredding enemies to the ground.

It has a smoke discharger and smoke launcher to distract enemies in the warzone. The M1A5 has unlimited ammunition. The machine gun does get heated up after a while and takes a few seconds to reload. Make sure to exit the vehicle when it is running low on health to avoid getting killed.

5 Request For Revival

Battlefield 2042 - Player Reviving Ally

In a battle of 128 soldiers on vast maps, people have to be prepared to kill at any time or get killed on the frontline. Being injured in Battlefield 2042 gives players a chance to reach out to teammates for instant revival. People with low health can request for revival and have thirty-four seconds before being able to respawn. These players on the verge of getting killed can be fully healed within seconds by allies.

Players can earn 50 XP for each time they revive a teammate. Entering a vehicle right after being revived will repair it as well.

4 Earn Combat Ribbons For Kills

Battlefield 2042 - Player earns Combat Ribbon

Leveling up is an important aspect of the warfare game. Gaining XP and getting promoted gives players access to weapons and gear that can amplify kill counts. People can take down vehicles and kill enemies to obtain Combat Ribbons in each game. Depending on the number of kills, the game will reward players with 500 XP and 1000 XP per Combat Ribbon.

Combat Ribbons can be earned multiple times per game by all players. There is no set limit on the total number of Combat Ribbons that can be earned during Breakthrough mode.

3 Check The Scoreboard

Battlefield 2042 - Player checking scoreboard

People get killed hundreds of times in Breakthrough mode. Pay attention to the scoreboard after getting killed as it gives plenty of information on game stats. These game stats include the status of the sectors to be gained, the total number of reinforcements left on each team, kill count, assist count, and the number of players connected per game.

Teaming up with friends and playing Battlefield 2042 as a squad can be exhilarating. Three to four players can play co-op mode as a squad in the game. There’s a squad scoreboard presented at the end of the game that displays similar stats of the team.

2 Defend Behind Fences

Battlefield 2042 - Player puts up fences for defence

Defenders have to protect their territory against Attackers in Breakthrough mode. Finding a safe place to camp and kill enemies can take the load off of Defenders wanting to maintain control over the sectors.

Defenders can choose Specialist Kimble Graves to build a wall of fences to fortify their sectors. These fences can prevent incoming damage from enemies and avoid getting shot at by snipers at long range. The fortification system deployable by Graves can take several bullets from enemy soldiers and shells from tanks in Battlefield 2042.

1 Cushion Landings With The Parachute

Battlefield 2042 - Player shoots enemy landing with parachute

Entering into combat from an aircraft is one of the most thrilling experiences in Battlefield 2042. Players can seamlessly drop off from the aircraft and open their parachutes to glide in the air and shoot at enemies from above. Press and hold the space bar on the PC to release the parachute while in mid-air to soften the landing.

Although parachutes can’t be cut by enemies in mid-air, it does leave players open to attacks. Soldiers can easily spot people landing on their parachutes and kill them before their feet hit the ground. Land on a safe spot before going out into the battlefield to flank foes for victory.

Battlefield 2042 can played on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox X/S.
