DICE reveals a new holiday event starting today for Battlefield 1 which includes a new custom game mode and plenty of free content such as Battlepacks, dog tags, and more.

With the holiday season finally here, many developers are heading out on a much needed vacation to spend time with friends and family. In order to keep players logging in during this annual down time, many titles have begun to roll out special holiday events, enticing players to participate and score unique rewards and unlockables for their trouble. The popular first person shooter, Battlefield 1, is also giving players some new content over the holiday break including a new game mode and some free items.

In a new post on the official Battlefield site, the complete schedule for each holiday event has finally been revealed. A brand new custom mode called Blind Delivery goes live starting today and is offers a slight variation on the War Pigeons multiplayer mode. In Blind Delivery, the minimap is turned off completely along with most other weapons and gadgets as well. Players will only have their trusty handguns and explosives available for use.

The following day on December 22, players can unlock the “Holiday Truce” Dog Tag by simply logging into the game. In addition, Battlefield 1 players can now further customize various tanks, planes, and other vehicles through newly added vehicle skins. The latest Battlepack revisions also include two new heavy tank skins with the Distinguished "SchnucK" and Legendary "Desert Gold" variations.

Speaking of Battlepacks, each and every player that logs into Battlefield 1 from December 23 to December 29 will be receiving a free Superior Battlepack, containing some valuable and rare weapon skins. Not only that, for players who have purchased the Premium Pass, an additional two Superior Battlepacks are also being delivered for free as well. DICE also confirms that these two are in addition to the normal 14 promised Superior Battlebacks coming throughout the months.

The holiday season seems to bring out the best in some of the bigger videos games currently on the market. Popular games like Overwatch and Destiny have already rolled out special events in order to entice players to log back in to take part in special game modes and unlock new rewards. Similarly to its popular Halloween event, Overwatch has added a brand new game mode along with event unique customization options such as a Mei legendary skin that's causing a bit of controversy at the moment. Rainbow Six Siege is even getting in on the holiday fun by offering timed challenges which unlock unique visual items like weapon charms and skins.
