The upcoming Batman game from WB Montreal is attracting attention from fan speculation and lots of rumors circulating. While the game is yet to have a confirmed release date, known platforms, or story details, information is slowly creeping out by official and (more often) unofficial means.

The game has been the subject of a number of leaks and rumors, including the possibility of a co-op mode involving the "Batfamily," that the game will be kicking off a new video game DC universe, and that the game will revolve around the Court of Owls storyline.

This latest rumor is, in essence, a confirmation of previously leaked rumors. Well-connected insider Sabi went on Twitter with the claim that after speaking with "multiple people on it... the new Batman game does seem to be a reboot." While this in and of itself is hearsay, the confirmation of previous reports from a source with connections is interesting.

Sabi is a name that pops up often and recently brought to light rumors about Breath of the Wild 2, tidbits on other Nintendo franchises, and some accurate E3 related news. Despite that, any news of this nature should still be treated as rumor until it can be verified by official sources, but these leaks do give fans something to speculate about.

Previous reports have suggested that the new Batman game will be a "soft reboot" most likely of the successful Arkham franchise, and while Sabi does not directly address the kind of reboot, they do say that previously leaked information is accurate.

There has been relatively little official news on the Batman reboot project from developer WB Montreal, offering only cryptic tweets, and teasing details without giving anything major away. The approach has allowed for the rumor mill to churn stories, and it is certainly valid not to be a fan of the Batman marketing strategy, but for as much as fans would like concrete details, it seems WB Montreal is happy to play this leak & rumor game for now.

In a surprising twist, during the writing of this article, Sabi's Twitter account was deleted. What this means for the veracity of the rumors is anyone's guess and only adds more fog to an already unusual haze that has enveloped this game.

The new Batman game from WB Montreal is currently in development.
