The developers at Telltale Games officially reveal the release date for the second installment of its episodic story for DC Comics' Dark Knight in Batman: The Telltale Series.

After initially releasing digitally in August of this year with its first installment, Batman: The Telltale Series is now set to continue its narrative arc with its second entry in the episodic tale centered around Bruce Wayne as the World's Greatest Detective with "Children of Arkham" launching on September 20, 2016 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. While the latest platforms have received a release date for the game's second episode, players of Batman: The Telltale Series' PS3 and Xbox 360 versions will be informed of the next section of the five-part series dropping on their consoles at a later date.

Fans of Batman: The Telltale Series ought to expect many of the same characters from the game's first episode to return in Children of Arkham, with Harvey Dent, Selina Kyle, the aforementioned Bruce Wayne, and other familiar faces from the Dark Knight’s universe making a comeback in the next plot. Of course, even more characters from the Caped Crusader's world will make an appearance later on as the season progresses.

This weekend, those who are attending PAX West will be able to play along with Batman: The Telltale Series' upcoming second episode live at 8:30 PM P.T. on Saturday, September. 3, but it will be off-site during the convention. This will be the first public demonstration of the game's new Crowd Play feature, which is Telltale's version of a multiplayer mode for the title, and it allows a group of fans online to help decide the course of the story, as they can cast votes for the choices they want the player to make for Batman.

Beyond the forthcoming release Batman: The Telltale Series' second episode, physical copies of the game are set to launch soon as well. As a matter of fact, disc versions for the title will be dropping for PC, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One just several days prior to Episode 2, as they hit retail shelves on September 13. Episode 1: Realm of Shadows will be included on the disc and the remaining four are going to be offered as downloads.

As far as the remainder of this specific storyline for Batman: The Telltale Series goes, the studio has declared that Season 1's end date will take place before 2016 wraps up entirely. The last three titles for the final three episodes will be successively named "New World Order," "Guardian of Gotham," and "City of Lights."

Although it's definitely exciting for many fans of Batman: The Telltale Series to soon be able to move forward with the story in the Dark Knight's adventure game saga with Children of Arkham, one can only hope that the release of Episode 2 avoids the types of woes fans encountered with the first chapter. Not only did the PS4 and Xbox One versions suffer issues of inconsistent frame rates and resolution troubles, but also the PC iteration had myriad problems.

Episode One for Batman: The Telltale Series is out now for PC, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One, while the second episode, Children of Arkham, is set to release on September 20, 2016 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
