Head of creative communications, John Stauffer, confirms a new multiplayer mode for Batman The Telltale Series called Crowd Play will be available once the game launches.

Telltale games is known for crafting adventure style games set in many diverse and interesting worlds such as The Walking Dead, Borderlands, Sam & Max and many more. What they may best be known for however is pushing players into making some truly difficult decisions, ultimately altering how the game ultimately unfolds. While all previous Telltale games have traditionally all been single player affairs, things are changing with Batman: The Telltale Series which now let family and friends help players make decisions.

Head of creative communications at Telltale games, John Stauffer confirmed that a new Crowd Play mode will enable players to let other people essentially join in to the experience to help make decisions. Two modes will be available, either allowing viewers to make the decision, or to simply voice their opinion, once this mode is turned on, a URL can be shared out which others can use enter the game and participate. Viewers can also react to decisions made, either with a thumbs up or down and the host can see a percentage for how many voted for each specific option.

The new mode was revealed in full this past weekend at San Diego Comic Con, as some of the developers, voice actor Troy Baker, and internet personality Greg Miller were on hand to play through the first episode in a massive crowd play event. Telltale confirmed that the mode was inspired by the behavior the studio has observed over the years, where people crowd around a screen and suggest what choice the player should make.

Even though this may sound like an ideal feature for streamers to take part in with their subscribers, Stauffer admitted that at least initially, Crowd Play may have some latency issues. Still, if Telltale can work out the issues before the season ends by the end of 2016, this could prove to be a very intriguing new addition.

News has been picking up as of late after the game had gone pretty quiet after its surprising announcement last December during The Game Awards show. After originally teasing the release date a couple weeks ago, Telltale revealed the actual launch date through the first gameplay trailer as August 2 or on September 13 for those who wish to grab a physical copy of the game at a retail store.
