DC Comics and Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment officially announce a new release date and side-by-side graphics comparison trailer for Batman: Return to Arkham.

Despite being delayed indefinitely after Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment announced that developer Virtuos Games needed more time to get development work done, it seems as if Batman: Return to Arkham is now set to step out of the shadows and finally reveal itself to the world. As a matter of fact, just today, DC Comics and the aforementioned game publisher have announced that the remastered package of Batman: Arkham Asylum and Batman: Arkham City is currently set to come out on October 18, 2016 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

With Batman: Return to Arkham now having a solid time set for launch, fans anxiously awaiting the day in which they can experience the enhanced visuals of the first two games in the franchise on current generation platforms no longer have to speculate when it will drop. Interestingly enough, the common hypothesis by gamers before this official announcement by DC Comics and Warner Bros. Interactive wasn't too far off, as many believed Return to Arkham's release date would be in November.

As seen below, DC Comics and Warner Bros. Interactive have also put out a fresh trailer that juxtaposes the graphics of Arkham Asylum and Arkham City on the PlayStation 3 next to the remastered versions of the titles on the PlayStation 4, with the latter editions running on Unreal Engine 4. Thankfully, the companies decided to use footage from the earliest portions of the games in order to avoid possible story spoilers for those who have yet to experience what many consider to be two of the top games of the last console generation.

After watching the side-by-side trailer's footage, it's obvious that the remasters in Batman: Return to Arkham provide the titles with a major increase in terms of their lighting, shadows, texture resolution, color saturation, and overall asset quality. However, while the package containing Arkham City and Arkham Asylum is set to bring more refined visuals to the games for current generation consoles, there are some fans who are of the opinion that the remasters aren't necessary.

Even so, those gamers who only own a PlayStation 4, Xbox One, or both, and have never played the first two entries in the Arkham franchise will more than likely be appreciative of Rocksteady Games' titles being remastered. After all, fans who purchase Batman: Return to Arkham are not only set to receive both Arkham Asylum and Arkham City's base games with totally polished and intensified graphics, but also they get every piece of post-launch DLC ever put out for the releases.

What do you think about the updated look for the first couple of Arkham games found in Batman: Return to Arkham? Will you be picking up a copy once it releases next month? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
