Epic Games' hit battle royale Fortnite has made somewhat of a reputation in the amount of crossovers it has managed to pull off. While things started with a special limited-time mode promoting Avengers: Infinity WarFortnite has gone on to cross with some of the biggest celebrities, TV shows, films, and even video games of all time, including a huge collaboration with DC Comics superhero Batman.

While Batman and related DC characters have made numerous appearances in Fortnite, the battle royale game recently made some unexpected waves in the comics industry with the FortniteBatman comic miniseries, Batman/Fortnite: Zero Point. While the comic has shed some interesting light on the lore of the Fortnite world, it now has some fans hopeful that Metroid's Samus Aran will come to the game.

Since April 20, Batman/Fortnite: Zero Point issues have been releasing regularly. Not only has the series given fans an interesting look into some of the darker parts of the Fortnite universe, but it also gives them the chance to redeem codes for in-game Batman/Fortnite: Zero Point items. Now that issue 3 has released, fans are pointing out how one silhouette seems to depict Samus from Nintendo's Metroid series.

One panel in the comic seems to show silhouettes of Ryu, Chun-Li, and one other character, and fans haven't been able to pinpoint the shape onto any existing Fortnite skins. The rounded shoulders certainly resemble those of Samus' Power Suit, and it may be fitting to place her next to two other video game icons like Ryu and Chun-Li. Nintendo has a reputation for being especially protective of its IPs, so while some fans are optimistic about her addition, others have viewed it as a lost cause.

Late last year, Fortnite launched Chapter 2 Season 5, which brought a bounty hunter theme to the game alongside characters like Halo's Master Chief and the recently-popular Mandalorian Din Djarin. Based on this theme and the addition of other video game icons like Kratos, Ryu, and Chun-Li, Nintendo fans were hopeful Samus would make it in, as she seemed like a perfect fit to many.

It's worth mentioning that thanks to the Epic Games and Apple legal battle, documents revealed that Epic Games aspired to release Samus alongside Master Chief and Kratos, but the reasons for her delay or cancellation are ultimately unknown. For now, it seems only time will tell if Metroid's Samus will join the fray.

Fortnite is out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
