Since completing work on the Batman Arkham franchise of games, developer Rocksteady Studios has been fairly quiet. The developer's last release was Batman: Arkham VR which first released for PlayStation VR in October 2016, but the company has been laying low ever since.

It seems that fans of the studio may have something to look forward to fairly soon, however. Rocksteady Studios has now taken to Twitter to tease its upcoming project, giving fans plenty of reasons to get excited.

In a curious teaser message, Rocksteady Studios confirmed that it is ramping up work at its mocap (motion capture) studio. The tweet includes a black and white image of the mocap studio and seems to be a panoramic view offering several stitched together photos so that fans and followers can get the full view of the room.

This is the "calm before the storm," says the developer, which explains why the mocap room seems so empty, save for a few position markers on the floor and some pieces of motion capture hardware and equipment. A photo of the studio's "unofficial mocap support crew" following a test shoot was also posted to the Rocksteady Twitter account earlier this month confirming that things are ramping up.

The Rocksteady Studios tweet also got a reply from one very famous games industry figure. Voice actor Troy Baker, who is known for his work in Naughty Dog's The Last of Us (he plays Joel) and Middle-earth: Shadow of War (he plays Talion) replied with a .GIF of someone eating popcorn, which typically means that someone is excited and patiently awaiting more news.

Baker has also worked with Rocksteady several times before, having voiced Jason Todd in Batman: Arkham VR and Two-Face and Jason Todd in Batman: Arkham Knight. Right now it is unclear whether Baker is responding to the Rocksteady Studios tweet as a fan or as someone who is actually involved in the developer's next project.

Many other Rocksteady Studios fans are as excited for this new game announcement as Baker is. When rumors that Rocksteady is working on a Superman game turned out to be false, it only led fans to speculate even more about what the developer is currently working on.

Would Rocksteady put its experience with superhero-related games to good use or is it looking to take on a totally new challenge? A new DC Comics game is in the works at WB Games Montreal but this doesn't necessarily mean that Rocksteady is working on it too. Hopefully, this new teaser by the developer is a hint of things to come and Rocksteady Studios will be showing off its next project very soon.
