Batman Day took place on September 21, and it was marked by a number of Batman-related announcements. In the video game world, Batman Day was celebrated by the Epic Games Store giving away six free Batman games, and by WB Games Montreal tweeting out a tease for its mysterious new game, rumored to be the next Batman: Arkham game based on the Court of Owls storyline. Well, it seems that the Batman Court of Owls game is the real deal, as comic book writer Scott Snyder has teased as much on Twitter.

Snyder, who wrote the Court of Owls storyline as part of Batman's New 52 relaunch, responded to WB Games Montreal with "Wait for it... #bewarethecourtofowls" followed by emojis for a bat and an owl. Snyder has since-deleted the tweet, as he clearly let the cat out of the bag a little too early, but others were quick to screenshot it.

This is far from the first time that a Batman Court of Owls game has been teased. Late last year, a developer from WB Games Montreal posted a photo online of them in a Court of Owls t-shirt, and then back in January, a former artist for Warner Bros. Interactive posted concept art of Batman fighting Talon in his portfolio. Rumors have persisted that WB Games Montreal has been working on a Batman game, and it seems the rumors were true.

But while this is basically a confirmation that the rumored Batman Court of Owls game exists, fans should still keep their expectations in check until an official announcement is made. Luckily, an official Batman Court of Owls game announcement is expected to come any day now, with some thinking that such a reveal may even take place as early as this coming Tuesday, September 24 during the PlayStation State of Play event.

Sony has confirmed that new games will be announced during the State of Play, and there is speculation that the Batman Court of Owls game could very well be one such game. The bulk of the stream is expected to focus on The Last of Us 2, but there should still be room for a major new game announcement or two.

Regardless of when the announcement is made, it will undoubtedly be exciting for Batman fans to finally have an official confirmation for the Batman Court of Owls game from WB Games Montreal. Hopefully next we'll learn what Rocksteady has been working on these past four years or so.

Batman Court of Owls game is rumored to be in development for unspecified platforms.
