Warner Bros announces that Batman Arkham Knight players on the PC can get a complete refund due to the lingering issues since the game re-launched last week.
While Batman: Arkham Knight is available once again on Steam, users are reporting and complaining about lingering problems and issues that continue to hamper the experience. In a rare move by a large publisher, Warner Bros has announced that it will offer refunds to any players who have owned that game at any point since launch.
The refund offer even extends to owners of the season pass though users are cautioned that in order to receive a refund, both the season pass and the Batman Arkham Knight game must be returned, not just one or the other. Warner Bros will also refund the game regardless of how little time the player has spent playing as well.
“We are very sorry that many of our customers continue to be unhappy with the PC version of Batman: Arkham Knight. We worked hard to get the game to live up to the standard you deserve but understand that many of you are still experiencing issues.”
“Until the end of 2015, we will be offering a full refund on Batman: Arkham Knight PC, regardless of how long you have played the product. You can also return the Season Pass along with the main game (but not separately). For those of you that hold onto the game, we are going to continue to address the issues that we can fix and talk to you about the issues that we cannot fix.”
While the PC version continues to be nothing short of a disaster for Warner Bros, the company has vowed that it will continue to make fixes to the game for those that are choosing to ride out the storm. The company also plans to be more transparent with its Arkham Knight players by keeping fans in the loop of progress and directly communicating which issues cannot be fixed.
The PC version of Batman Arkham Knight has been malfunctioning badly since it launched in June forcing Warner Bros to not only apologize to fans but even suspend sales of the title due to the major problems plaguing the title. After bringing in Rocksteady Studios to work on and try to correct the major issues, the PC version re-launched last week after four months of being unavailable. While some issues were resolved, the majority of issues like framerate inconsistencies, crashing, and audio de-syncs were not resolved and continue to be major problems for players.
Sadly, PC gamers are getting used to receiving shoddy ports of popular games. This console generation alone has seen a number of PC titles stumble and fall at launch while the console versions shine brightly. Even though Warner Bros has been at the center of a number of incidents this year including another flawed PC launch with Mortal Kombat X, the company has seen successes as well with both Dying Light and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt selling better than expected.
Are you currently a Batman Arkham Knight owner? Are you going to take Warner Bros offer and get a refund or do you remain hopeful that the issues will eventually get patched?
