It's been a long time since we've heard anything concrete about Rocksteady Studios' next big title. Ever since it wrapped up its immensely popular Batman titles, there have been constant rumors about which major DC characters will be getting their own video game, including Superman and even the whole Justice League. Recently, there have been rumblings that they will actually return to Batman with a title that will feature the Court of Owls. In the meantime, something more definite has been revealed: Batman: Arkham Collection.

Online retailer Amazon recently updated its UK website, which came with a listing for what is simply being called Batman: Arkham Collection, complete with images of the box art that confirm that the collection will be releasing on modern consoles. This was later officially confirmed by Rocksteady's marketing manager, Gaz Deaves. Some might be a little confused, since a very similar compilation was released back in 2016, for the PS4 and Xbox One, called Return to Arkham, but that consisted of only the first two games: Arkham Asylum and Arkham City. This collection includes not only those two remasters, but also Arkham Knight as well as that game's DLC, which very much makes this the definitive version to own for both newcomers and die hard fans. Arkham Origins is notably excluded, though that game wasn't developed by Rocksteady and was never updated for modern consoles.

The listing also revealed that it will include a new skin for Arkham Knight that's based on the Earth-2 Batman. This skin was available in the game's original release, as part of a limited promotional campaign in America, meaning that those outside of America can now get their hands on it. Unfortunately, it comes with another caveat: the skin will only be available to download early next year for PS4 owners, which may leave Xbox One owners feeling less than thrilled. The Amazon UK listing comes with a steelbook cover too, and the collection will cost £40 (roughly $60), but it's unknown whether any other retailers will offer it as well. There's no given US release date either, and, at the moment, it's slated for only a release in Europe, though it's safe to assume it will be released in other countries as well.

Time will tell whether this will be enough to placate those waiting for Rocksteady's new title. E3 2019 was a perfect opportunity for the company to finally give fans a sneak peek at what was next, but Rocksteady was completely absent from the event, to the dismay of many.

Fans aren't the only ones eager for a new Batman: Arkham game either. Voice actor Kevin Conroy, who has portrayed Batman in numerous media, including the Arkham games, has been particularly vocal about wanting to see the series continue.

Batman: Arkham Collection will release in Europe in September 2019 for PS4 and Xbox One.
