New 'Batman: Arkham City' Trailer Highlights The Riddler

Batman Arkham City Riddler Footage

Rocksteady Studios and Warner Bros. Interactive have released a new trailer for the upcoming Batman: Arkham City. This latest trailer shows off the Riddler and lets gamers get a little taste of the expanded role he will play in the game. Sure, collecting Riddler trophies in Batman: Arkham Asylum was fun but it is hard not to be excited about the new challenges presented in Arkham City.

As described in our eyes-on impressions from GDC, the Riddler is really upping the ante this time around. He is not only making the trophies more difficult to find and access but he is also putting Batman directly in danger along with the lives of some innocent people in the City. There is a little more at stake this time and the Riddler certainly looks to be bringing the heat.

From navigating the city with Batman's grapple hook, to soaring above the buildings scouring for Riddler trophies, Arkham City is looking to deliver a deep, varied, and intense single-player experience. If the main missions in the game and the Riddler missions are able to deliver on all the potential shown so far, gamers could be in for a real treat when Arkham City hits shelves. Check out the trailer and see for yourself what we mean by intense:

It is easy to imagine some engaging puzzles and cinematic last-second rescues taking place during the game's Riddler missions. October cannot get here soon enough. Arkham Asylum was such a great game the only problem Arkham City might have is in reaching the level of expectations gamers will have for the game based on the first one and the pre-release trailers and media shown. The game is looking good.

What is your take on this Riddler trailer? What other surprises do you think Rocksteady and WB might still have in store for Arkham City? Do you like the look of Riddler's expanded role in the game? Do you think you will complete all of his puzzles and missions? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.

Batman: Arkham City is set for release on the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC October 18, 2011, in North America, and October 21, 2011, in Europe.
