Batman: Arkham Asylum is considered to be the best comic book video game there is, and with very good reason. That is, if all the praise and glowing reviews are to be believed.

With everyone going crazy over the game since its release in 2009, it seemed inevitable that there would be a sequel sooner or later. Once the secret room in Arkham Asylum was made public knowledge, it was clear that had been the plan all along. Information has been popping up about Batman: Arkham City to drive the speculation machine, not the least of which is the trailer seen at the Spike VGAs, showing Dr. Hugo Strange as a new villain set to appear in the game.

In an interview with IGN , Rocksteady Studios Game Director Sefton Hill revealed some new information about Arkham City. Hill explained that Hugo Strange would serve as the official warden of Arkham City, enforcing his set of rules for the city with an iron fist. The soldiers that he commands, which were seen in the trailer, are known as the Tyger security force, and they serve as the guards that follow Strange's no-nonsense policies. Hill also mentioned that the main story of Arkham City would follow the story in the comics that introduced Strange and his first encounter with Batman.

On the subject of Catwoman, Hill claimed that, true to her strong-willed character, she would not be associated with any of the other villains in the game, or would she have a gang of her own. At the same time, however, she won't instantly side with Batman, but will instead follow her own agenda. Catwoman and Batman will both be caught in the middle of a turf war between the various factions set throughout Gotham, and will have to try and survive the chaos.

What about the long-rumored inclusion of multiplayer in the game? Hill firmly squashed those rumors, saying that Arkham City would be a single-player only game. He justified this by saying that if Rocksteady divided its attention between both single and multiplayer campaigns, it wouldn't be as good of an overall game.
