While some of the details have been revealed already, we can finally see the former first Boy Wonder Richard “Dick” Grayson join the fray as Nightwing in this trailer for the first DLC (if you don’t include Catwoman) for Batman: Arkham City. This is the first of many DLC content add-ons that Rocksteady Studios has promised will be episodic and will continue the Arkham City story.
The trailer showcases Nightwing’s impressive resume: astounding agility, master of multiple martial arts, cool gadgets, peak strength and trained by Batman. Though, if “trained by Batman” were anywhere on your resume, you could probably forgo listing the rest. Agreed?
The DLC will see Nightwing showing off the typical hero badassery, but with a style all his own. He doesn’t just take down criminals; he beats on them with sticks! Escrima Sticks to be specific, used traditionally in Filipino weapon-based martial arts. They are the weapons of choice for Dick, but with a few major adjustments. Nightwing also has his own unique moves and an extensive arsenal of gadgets that could rival Batman’s and you’ll need them to navigate through the challenge maps in addition to the two exclusive maps that come with the DLC, “Wayne Manor” and “Main Hall.”
Like the other playable characters, Nightwing will have an animated series skin packed right into the DLC. He isn't available in the main story portions of the game, but there should be plenty of gameplay to keep players satisfied until the next DLC. That is, unless there are any more unforeseen issues. It's hard not to notice that the release date coincides with another game you might have heard of, but since it's a DLC it most likely won't have any effect on sales, though some might delay downloading it.
The Batman: Arkham City Nightwing DLC will release November 1st, 2011.
