Whenever a particular role is played by multiple actors, people will often argue over who played it best. The Joker is no exception, particularly because of all the different takes on the character. Over the years, you have seen Cesar Romero's over-the-top goofy clown, Jack Nicholson's wild psychopath, and Heath Ledger's dangerous criminal. And then you have Mark Hamill, who did the voice of the character in the animated series and, most recently, in Batman: Arkham Asylum and its upcoming sequel, Batman: Arkham City.

If you're a fan of the Jedi Knight turned voice actor, don't worry: rumors saying that this would be his last time in the role have been proven to be untrue by the man himself.

On Hamill's Twitter account, he was asked by a fan if he was really going to stop playing the Joker after Batman: Arkham City. Hamill replied that he never said he would be done with Joker after this, only that Arkham City was so good that it would be hard to top. This tells us that we'll be seeing more from Hamill as the Clown Prince of Crime, but in what medium is still unknown. In addition to Hamill's Joker, Batman: Arkham City will include appearances from The Riddler, Catwoman, and Robin.

Perhaps Hamill's tweet means that there will be another game following Arkham City. That seems to be the common fan theory, considering the subject matter surrounding the question Hamill was asked. After all, Rocksteady has hinted in the past that they'd be willing to make the series a trilogy, though what would happen next game can only be speculated upon. However, it doesn't necessarily mean that there will be another game, as this could just as easily mean Hamill will be playing the character somewhere else.

Do you think this means that another game will follow Arkham City? Where will Hamill play The Joker in the future, if not in a new game? Leave any thoughts you may have in the comments below.

Batman: Arkham City comes to the Xbox 360 and PS3 on October 18, 2011.
