'Batman: Arkham City' Will Have Episodic DLC

Batman Arkham City Downloadable Content

If there's one comic book inspired video game that everyone is looking forward to playing this year it's got to be Batman: Arkham City. The follow up to Rocksteady's well received and uber-successful Batman: Arkham Asylum is getting prepped to spread its wings and fly this October, and fans of The Batman and fans of great games alike are just sitting on their wallets waiting for Warner Bros. to come and take their money. However, it would seem that after gamers have torn through Batman: Arkham City's campaign, there will still be a few stories left to tell courtesy of some episodic DLC.

This news prematurely surfaced during a discussion between Batman voice actor Kevin Conroy and During the interview Conroy was asked what the future held in store for himself, and if he planned on revisiting The Batman or wanted to pursue some other voice acting gigs. His response was more than revealing, as he accidentally let slip that Batman: Arkham City would have new story-related episodic content available as downloadable content.

"The gaming now is a big, new thing. The thing about Arkham City is that it's going to be an ongoing game. You're going to be able to download future episodes of it, so it's going to be going on for quite a while. I've been recording it for a while. So that will continue."

The only announced DLC for Arkham City were a few challenge maps, skins, and of course Robin, and even though more content has yet to be revealed, it's pretty encouraging to hear that voice work has been — and still is — under way for future content. Downloadable add-ons for the game's story seem like a brilliant move by Rocksteady Studios and Warner Bros. Interactive, and it will also give the fans a chance to both enjoy classic enemies like the Penguin, and potentially see villains that didn't appear in the retail version of the game.

Details on the downloadable episodes for Batman: Arkham City will likely be made public after the game release on October 18th, but there's still a chance that more news could come out of San Diego Comic-Con within the next few days.
