WB Games Montreal has been cryptic with its teases for the next Batman game, releasing black and white symbols and leaving it up to fans to decipher what they mean. The most recent Batman image tease is of what appears to be a police badge, with some theorizing that it represents Jim Gordon or the Gotham City Police Department in general. However, another theory is being floated around about who the badge may represent in the new Batman game, and it has interesting implications for it if true.

The other theory is that the badge represents none other than Amanda Waller, which actually makes a lot of sense if one remembers the ending to Arkham Origins, the other Batman game developed by WB Games Montreal. Those who have yet to play Arkham Origins and don't want spoilers should proceed with caution, as this article will contain spoilers for that game's post-credits scene.

Those that completed Arkham Origins and stuck around for the after credits scene will remember seeing Amanda Waller approach Deathstroke, offering him a position on her Suicide Squad team. Trophy artwork also implied that Harley Quinn was given a similar offer, though we don't actually see that happen in-game. Since WB Games Montreal developed Batman: Arkham Origins and are apparently developing the new Batman game, it stands to reason that Amanda Waller and her Suicide Squad may play a role.

If the Suicide Squad is featured in the new Batman game, then one has to wonder if it will also be about the Court of Owls, as previously rumored. The Court of Owls storyline has been heavily rumored for the new Batman game for quite some time, with some teases even coming from DC comic book writers. Having both the Court of Owls and Suicide Squad in the same game seems like it would make it too busy, but then again, the Batman: Arkham games have thrived on villain-heavy stories.

In fact, the games have fit as many Batman villains in each one as possible, even some of the Caped Crusader's more obscure enemies. Maybe the new Batman game will be about multiple organizations hunting down Batman, which would explain the "Capture the Knight" phrase that has been shared alongside some of WB Games Montreal's teaser images.

Before anyone gets too excited about the possibility that the Suicide Squad is in the new Batman game, they should wait for an official reveal from WB Games Montreal, which should hopefully come sooner rather than later.

A new Batman game is rumored to be in development for unspecified platforms.
