Ever since the first Avengers movie in 2012, crossovers have been the name of the game when it comes to superhero franchises. On that note, remember when 6 superheroes fighting aliens in New York was considered a mindblowing feat of cinematic wonder? Well, in the 9 years since then, things have apparently circled around from small meet-ups to galaxy-shaking battles and back to the little stuff again, and Batgirl star Leslie Grace would love to keep that going.

During the press tour for The Suicide Squad, In The Heights star Grace officially landed the titular role in DC's upcoming Batgirl film, and fans weren't the only ones who were excited. When Margot Robbie, who continually charms audiences as Harley Quinn, learned about the casting during an interview on the tour, she was quick to enthusiastically suggest an eventual crossover between her character and Grace's. As anyone rightly should be when praised by Robbie, Grace was ecstatic.

When speaking to ET about all the news surrounding Batgirl, Grace's interview inevitably addressed Robbie's comments, and she was positively elated in response. "I was freaking out! I'm such a fan. I can't even," Grace said, rattling off the exact words many people would also likely say in her situation. "She's one of the biggest, badasses in the superhero world. I haven't had a chance to meet her, but it would be awesome if at any point Batgirl comes through and Miss Harley Quinn drops by Gotham and have some business to handle, it might be cool!" The very idea of Batgirl and Harley meeting up is super fun to think about, especially considering how well the idea worked out in HBO Max's incredible Harley Quinn animated series, so more of that is always a promising idea.

ET took the idea and ran with it, giving Grace the opportunity to send a message to Robbie about the idea. Naturally, Grace did so with gusto. "Miss Margot, hi. I just want to say I'm a huge fan and if you think it's a good idea for Harley Quinn to stop by, we're welcoming all of the help," she answered in an impromptu open letter to Robbie. "Batman's out -- he's doing a whole bunch of stuff -- so I'm going to need some of my ladies to help me out on this next run, you know what I'm saying? We love you."

Well, if nothing else, it's clear that Grace already has some great ideas in mind for Batgirl's future adventures even beyond the film that hasn't been made yet. Considering how Batgirl as a film concept has sort of been floating through uncertainty for many years now, there has definitely been plenty of time for potential concepts to stew around. It's difficult to imagine such a crossover would happen anytime soon, especially since Batgirl would have to come out first. But that shouldn't mean there's no room for optimism.

Hopefully, the mutual excitement from both actresses is enough to get the ball rolling, or at least form a nice little snowball and start it on a slow tumble down the mountain. Now may not be the right time for a crossover, but it's always the right time for more of Robbie's Harley Quinn.

Batgirl doesn't have a specific release date as of yet, but it aims to release sometime in 2022 on HBO Max.
