Originally appearing in Resident Evil 1, Barry Burton and his amazing compliments regarding lock picking will be showing upin Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D as another playable character. He will be joining a large cast that is comprised of Chris and Claire Redfield, Jack Krauser, Rebecca Chambers, Hunk, Jill Valentine, and Albert Wesker.

Fans who picked up Resident Evil 5: Gold Edition will have previously had a chance to get an idea of how the S.T.A.R.S. Alpha team member played. Barry has one of the most powerful context melee kills of all the The Mercenaries 3D characters with his headbutt. In fact, most of Barry's melee attacks are incredibly powerful and his prone enemy move, Miranda Rights, is pretty awesome (he shoots them with a .44 magnum).

Capcom released new screenshots of the burly bad-ass in action and you can believe that Barry's going to be one of the characters who could be seeing a lot of use. As seen in the following pictures, Barry's an old fashioned kind of guy. He likes revolvers and inelegantly braining or kicking zombies in the head.

For those wondering what kind of armament Barry comes equipped with, his regular costume in Resident Evil 5: Gold Edition comes with the Samurai Edge, Smith & Wesson M29 and a Dragunov Sniper Rifle. Barry wasn't great against a horde of zombies, but one-on-one, he's rather unstoppable. The Mercenaries 3D will feature cooperative play though, so team-ups with shotgun wielding characters may be applicable.

More details and a Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D trailer have been made available, as well as a trailer for previously announced characters Jill Valentine and Albert Wesker in action is also viewable.

Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D will be offering the fast-paced, arcade style gameplay for the 3DS that Resident Evil has seen a lot of lately. On the other hand, Resident Evil: Revelations, which will serve as a direct sequel to Resident Evil 5, will be facilitating the story-based side of the franchise.

Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D will be releasing Summer 2011 exclusively for the Nintendo 3DS.
