Bandai Namco is teasing a new horror game for a potential reveal later this month. Details regarding the project are fairly slim at the moment, but a teaser site for the game appeared with the title “Summer Horror Project.”

As of right now, there isn’t much to the website save for a video of the outside of a house or office building with the label “domas-scene01,” an August 30th time stamp, and a bunch of indecipherable code. It’s obviously not a lot to go on, but that hasn’t stopped horror fans from browsing the backend of the site.

Further digging through the website’s files by Gematsu revealed backend keywords like Zombie and Horror, which could give us more clues about whatever Bandai Namco is cooking up. Clicking on any of the social media share buttons on the site will post a message that reads “A mysterious website appears? This summer, what will happen…” to Twitter or Facebook. No doubt Bandai Namco is using the site to hype up its project by spreading the word.

Speculation is obviously running rampant now that the teaser site is live. Some believe that Bandai Namco could be teasing a new horror IP, which makes sense given the lack of fanfare surrounding the announcement.

Another popular theory is that Bandai Namco is working on an experiential horror project, likely for virtual reality. Horror and VR mix really well when done correctly and there haven’t been too many titles available in the genre as of late.

Truth be told, this summer horror project could be anything and Bandai Namco isn’t saying much. Fans can expect that the site will continue to update with new details and/or videos, and perhaps those new domas scenes will offer up more clues about the project. For now, all we can say for sure is that Bandai Namco is preparing a new foray into the world of horror and an official reveal is slated for August 30th.
